Roaming in the Gloaming? Not Today: Announcing the Fellowes Photography website!!!

There is a specific kind of rain in Ayrshire that doesn’t just fall; it hovers, wraps itself around you like a cold, wet blanket, and gently informs you that your outdoor photography plans for the day are thoroughly cancelled. It was during a stretch of exactly this kind of typically damp Scottish weather - when the gloaming was far too saturated to roam in - that I decided to finally build a proper digital roof over my creative head.

I am incredibly pleased to announce that the Fellowes Photography website is officially live.

For a long time, I’ve been craving a space that doesn't demand you "double-tap," subscribe, or beat an algorithm to be seen. Since stepping away from the chaotic noise of active social media, this blog has been a wonderful sanctuary. But a blog is a running commentary; it’s a journal. I needed a quiet, clean, immersive gallery where the work could simply sit, breathe, and exist on its own merits.

No trends, no validation-seeking, and absolutely no influencer nonsense. Just a calm corner of the web.

The Virtual Galleries

I built the site using the Squarespace platform and, quite frankly, the rumours are true - it’s an utterly brilliant bit of kit for creating a visual home. It allowed me to curate a space that feels deliberate and unhurried. To begin with, the site is divided into three distinct galleries:

  • Landscapes: A collection of grand views and quiet corners, entirely captured since making the move to Scotland in July 2024.

  • Urban Landscapes: Finding the geometry, the stories, and the stark beauty in the built environments around us.

  • Live Music: A deep dive into the vault, showcasing energy, sweat, and stage lights captured over the last fifteen years.

While these three pillars form the foundation of the portfolio, the curation is designed to evolve. As new creative concepts, fresh ideas, and different photographic approaches brew, the walls of these galleries will shift to reflect that journey.

Inside the Camera Bag (and the Digital Darkroom)

Now, despite my aversion to influencer culture, I’m not a total contrarian. I know we all love a good look at the tools of the trade. I have included a dedicated page on the site that details the exact equipment and software behind the images.

If you've ever wondered about the specific roles played by Mickey Cann (the Canon M100) or Sid Dee (the Canon 60D), or want to see what the airborne squad of Bob Mini (Dji Mini 3 drone) and Nev Drone (DJI Neo drone) have been up to, it's all laid bare.

More importantly, it details my complete transition to an Adobe-free workflow. You can see how I process the world using tools like Skylum Luminar Neo and DxO Nik Collection, proving there is life outside the subscription model. The digital darkroom is running as smoothly as a well-oiled machine, leaving me more time to actually focus on the art.

Pull Up a Chair

This website isn't a storefront or a bid for digital fame; at this stage, it is simply a portfolio. It is an invitation.

So, I invite you to click the link, pull up a comfortable chair, grab your beverage of choice, and wander through the galleries at your own pace. There is no rush here. The work is simply there to be seen, and I truly hope you enjoy the view.

If a particular image speaks to you, or if you just fancy a chat about the light in the Highlands or the grit of an urban frame, the Contact Page is fully functional. I would genuinely love to hear from anyone visiting the site.

Thank you, as always, for being part of this creative journey. The door is open - come on in.

Please feel free to leave a comment, but keep it constructive and observe the fact that I am quite skilled with the "Delete" button and will use it without losing an ounce of sleep. Also note that I have deployed Adsense, so please do not presume to post links or banners to promote/advertise your business/company - contact me first so that we can discuss a fee that you really won't want to pay, but I would have no qualms in receiving. Any such links/banners will be deleted with no explanation and no feelings of guilt or remorse on my part ;-)
